After over a month in the shop, I finally got my scooter back.

The ride yesterday felt great, even if it was only 18 degrees. I missed riding and all this waiting for parts has made me think that maybe Derbi is NOT the best choice for a scooter that is ridden daily.
I use the scooter as my main transportation, and when it's in the shop it sucks.
I am seriously considering getting a Honda Reflex. At least with a honda, I know I can get parts in less that 3 days. In addition, it would be nice to have the extra 200cc's since I regularly do long trips (50+ miles). I just hope that I won't get spoiled and miss out on the enjoyment that my 50cc scooter give me.
At any rate, it's great to have my scooter back.

Brian, if you like 50cc scooters you should have gotten a honda elite-s made from 1994-2002 its honda's best kept secret! its not as large or fancy like a derbi or malaguti but its dependable & fast. They make mega aftermarket parts, bore kits from 72cc to 114cc, cranks from 41mm to 53mm and the list goes on & on, the sa-50p engine will also fit older honda models, my 1987 aero-50 has the 114cc stroker kit and will blow away any 4-stroke 250cc, i can send you pics.

Hey man, nice to hear you're finally mobile again. Interesting that you've considered unloading the Derbi because the thought crossed my mind since my dealer bailed. I might be in the market for a Reflex too if they had another color besides yellow. I'm also looking at the Suzuki Burgman 400. I don't know. The Derbi is a good scoot I guess.
Your bike is 50cc unrestricted right? Did you notice or have more power with the metrakit pipe? My stock pipe looks like shit right now because of the salt and water so I need a new one. Just wondered if I could expect better performance with an upgrade. Thanks.

I have a slightly used stock pipe if you want it...
The metrakit pipe by itself doesn't do much except make the bike sound different (louder). But if you plan to do further upgrades, it's a good place to start.
I have been waiting for the Malaguti Madison to be available, but it looks like that won't be happening this year. So looks like I might get the reflex after all.

Hello Folks,
Never and I mean NEVER buy from a sales person. Always buy from the service person. Buying a scooter is simple, it only takes money. Getting a scooter repaired is not only another issue, it seems it has to be done on another planet.
Most scooter are good when taken out of the box but keeping them on the road is the real task at hand. I do not care how good the unit is, if you need a part and you can't get it, you might as will have a weed eater.
DO NOT buy cheap or name, buy from people with respect and that will have the respect to support you and your "after tax dollar", you know, the ones you use to purchase the scooter.
Cheap and stupid normally fall in the same sentence.
SHOP AT THE SERVICE COUNTER!!!! THAN... BUY AT THE SALES COUNTER
A GOOD mail order house is better than a dead beat grease-hole. Be carefull here, only buy from a certified dealer, China crap on the market is nothing more than watching your money burn up in front of you.
