honda 80 scooter choke

ive worked on harleys for 35 years and some times these scooters make me want to pull what hair i got left out i put reed valves in an 80cc honda but the choke is vacum operated i guess i should have marked the lines but i didnt now i got gas everwhere if i unhook it it will start & run fine when its warm out but when its cold it has the id dont wannas.please help an old biker but dont tell my bros maddawg
