Hi to all of ya'll from TEXAS...

I too purchased a scooter, and love it!!
I do own a large bike (Kawasaki Concours), but decided I needed something to easily get around on. I love the ease and flexability of a small scooter. I have a Chinese "Apollo" 150cc scooter. I would like to dispel a couple of myths.

A little about me, I live in the Dallas area, lots of rolling hills and of course traffic. I am 48 yrs old and weigh 290lbs, and ride every chance I get. Long distance and lots of traffic I drive my Kawasaki. 85% of the time I use my scooter :) In 4 weeks, I have driven it 400 miles. One last thing, research your dealer with the Better Business Bureau. Even if the company is not a BBB member, you will easily pare thru the bad vs good dealers.

1. A 150cc scooter will only reach 54 mph on a flat plane, due to limitations of the CDI (many are advertised at 70 mph).
2. My current milage is about 78 mpg.
3. From 0 -45 mph I am usually the fastest in traffic. From light to light, I get lots of questions about how fast my scooter is, and how mich did it cost.
4. When you purhcase your scooter, try to get one with a decent sized trunk, very very useful ( I had to buy one from third party, and installed it).
5. I customized by installing a cheap water proof watch from Walmart (it has a great backlight). About $8 USD vs the $40-$50, and attached to using Velcro.
6. I have changed motor oil at 150 and 300 miles. From my research, I will change to Synthetic oil at 700 miles.
7. I changed my gear oil at 300 miles. In both of the first oil changes, I saw very small metal "shiny" flakes in the oil, which is normal for the first changes.
8. One last thing, www.roketa.com has manuals for most all of the scooters that they sell, which apply to most o

Hope this helps, and if you need a reputable dealer don't forget to go to www.bbb.com

I wish this forum had spell check!!!
