Yeah - big surprise the "I don't get it!" tone of the whole article. No, you -don't- get it.

"Why not just buy a real motorcycle and be done with it"

...do you also walk up to the vintage car driver guys and tell 'em "You know, they DO make new modern cars - why are you driving this 56 Mercury??"
