kevlar vs. stock (bando0 belts

Has anyone heard of kevlar belts basically not being worth it?
I'm getting opinions from some people sayin they will shred easily, slow ya down etc...to just stick with stock belts.....I have a 2002 derbi atlantis, have allready ordered one (kevlar)
and now am wondering if I should even install the belt?
any ideas or comments much appreciated!
