Big Chief -- Anyone have 'positive' experience with GS Motor

So, I have seen a lot of negative sentiment on the Big Chief scooters that GS Motorworks offers. Particularly the Retro LX. I find it hard to believe that a company sends out ONLY junk. The laws of commerce and cause/effect say that IF their product ALWAYS sucked, they would slowly go out of business. GS has never been under the name of another company (ie name switch to throw researching them awry) and each BBB complaint is showing "resolved" on the BBB site.

I have also noticed that NH has the only msg board that blasts these guys so much.

I bought 2 of these things (classical case of poor research) and I got mine started. I followed the directions and I broke a mean sweat...However, I got them started. They bog down from idle and yeah, they really don't have much pep.

They suggest using the highest octane available (you're supposed to do the same thing for old air cooled VWs...it has to do with the timing) and I used the lower grade octane before finding this out.

I am wondering if maybe the problems are a result of MAYBE a break down in the start-up procedure?
