Oil Light Keeps Coming On Derbi GP1 2003 model,

I there have have recently purchased a second hand derbi GP1 50cc scooter 2003 model with the Piaggio engine in it, its in immaculate condition only 4000 miles on the clock, I am the second owner from new, but with it being second hand i wanted to make sure the oil was good so I drained the oil mixture tank and re-filled using synthetic 2 stroke oil, since doing this i am having problems with the oil light coming on after about 5 miles there is oil in the tank and no air locks in the pipe i have checked, but when the light comes on I stop turn the engine off for only a few seconds start it up again first touch, light stays off again for another 5 or so miles then comes back on, the bike starts ok all the time and runs a treat but i am worried with the oil light coming on to use it as i don't want to risk ceasing the engine, I am new to all this scooter thing so I would be very gratefull if anyone out there could help me on this issue PLEASE, I very much look forward to your HELP,
