newbie - carb tuning for a Piaggio scooter

Hi, I have a Piaggio Typhoon 50cc (air-cooled 2 stroke) scooter, which I have upgraded by adding a Malossi 70cc cylinder & piston kit, a gianelli pipe and a malossi multivar. I currently get about 60mph out of it (well, the guage runs out and the needle buries after 50mph…). Fuel consumption has taken a nose-dive, but who cares.

I am contemplating upgrading the carb – I did have the spec for the current carb when I rejetted it for the kit,but I’ve lost the spec and don’t really want to disturb it until I do more work on it, but anyway, the current carb is a Del’Orto, I think a 17 (does that sound right ?), jetted to a 62 (does that sound right too ?). Runs about right to slightly rich.

Any recommendations for a new carb and jetting, while staying street-legal in the UK ?

Also, I find that when accelerating at full throttle from a stand-still, it hesitates for a moment or so at low speed/revs before the power kicks in – any idea how I can get a quicker response from a standing start ?

thanks, your help appreciated
