That pipe is an upgrade for the stock exhaust and is made for the 50cc head, that's why the exhaust port is small and does not match the exhaust port on the 70cc head. The pipe mounts like the stock exhaust, but will effect the performance of the 70cc bore due to the difference in the exhaust port size. It works, but is not ideal for a 70cc bore. It is made with a restrictor cone by the exhaust flange which is what the shop removed to modify the pipe. Technigas pipes are not high quality pipes, and for this pipe, they do state that the chrome plating will discolor from the heat. I used the non-chrome plated version of this exhaust on my 50cc GP1 and it worked better than the stock exhaust. I bought it for $132. When I upgraded to 70cc, that pipe had to go due to the exhaust size mismatch. It also is not "tuned" for 70cc applications.
It's unfortunate that there are some shops out there that will do things like that to make a sale. It hurts the whole industry. You put your faith in them because they are supposed to know their "stuff". It holds true that saying of "Let the buyer beware!". That's why there are scooter forums like this where we can ask questions to people who have some experience in scooter related topics.--vh286
