The stock GP1 should accelerate smoothly when you roll into the throttle, and the speed increase should be progressive to the throttle opening. If you just crack the throttle to wide open from a standing start, a stock GP1 will come up on the revs fairly quickly, then you will notice an rpm drop as it accelerates. The engine should rev smoothly with no sputtering as the rpm's come up.
The carburetor fuel/air ratio is adjusted with jetting, which is a small orifice or "jet" that meters the amount of fuel flow into the carb. Without the proper ratio of fuel/air, the engine will run rough or bog.
Does your GP1 still have the stock speed restrictors or did the dealer have them removed? If your top speed is about 35mph it is still restricted.--vh286
