derbi predator air intake

I have a derestricted 01 Predator LC, no other upgrades. It has a difficult time ideling when cold with the air box lid in place. If I take off the air box lid, it is very loud, it idles fine, and obvesiously, runs better. Is there an aftermarket air box or something I can do to get more air to the carb and still keep the carb dry in the rain?
