Sorry I didn't look here for your message....I looked in the YAHOO group, and of course received the calendar mailings.
I did show up at about 7:20pm.....with the new scooter. I waited around until about 7:55pm, and took off to practice up at the DMV. (I still have to get licenced)
The ride around Manchester was fun. I'm still a newbie, but I just paid extreme attention to everything I did, and of course kept the speed down as I am still in the break-in phase of the scooter.
I have done about 55 miles on the new scooter so far.....quite a few from the mandatory 600mile break-in period.
It looked sort of like rain, but it never so much as tried.
I hope to see you at the next meeting.

I found this site the other day and I am interested in getting involved in a scooter club like this. I have recently purchased a vintage Vespa and would like to meet some other scooter owners. My scooter is in transit so I won't be ready for any group rides immediately but would like to make a meeting.
Thanks

For those who are interested. At the meeting last night we thought it might be nice to create a yaahoo group for club related information. Please come over check it out and start posting. I just created it so there is nothing there yet.

I will be there....at 7:30PM, right?
I am still w/o scooter, but I understand that it might be shipping from South Carolina today for arrival in Nashua perhaps Monday. (all unconfirmed)
We can talk tonight....we should also exchange email addresses.

I know this isn't perhaps relavent to people in our area, but I wanted to get a sense of why people would join a scooter club.
I have posted this poll in only the Kymco Yahoo Group, but if the info is interesting, I might place it in several other scooter-centric groups as well. (any other suggestions?)
Since many of you might not be members of the Kymco forum, I have done a screen capture and you can see the results from only 42 votes at:
http://tinypic.com/4qkkrr
Can you think of any other "answers" I should add to the list I already have? (or any other changes)
I know this means NOTHING to the people we will eventually attract to the club...but I thought I would try to take the temperature of others to see if there were any surprises.
Please tell me what you think,
-Quentin
PS: I will update you on the results as they "roll in".

I thought I would post the initial numbers I have in the short time it has been up. (2 days?)
I placed it in 10 Yagoo groups related to scooters.
So far, I have received 219 votes. They look like this:
Q) If you were to join a scooter club, what would you like to do as a member? (what would make you join?)
# Votes (% total) Answer
--------------------- ---------
53 (24%) Scooting education: Lean about my scooter repair, upgrade and service
48 (22%) Going to and having Motorcycle / Scooter related events & rallys
3 (1.4%) Other interest (Please note in message)
53 (24%) Going on group rides with others. (two wheels good, four wheel bad)
32 (15%) Social contact by going to BBQs, Music clubs or Fairs
4 (1.8%) Party, party, party!
15 (6.8%) I'm looking for an upgrade, and I want to learn about other owners scoots, maybe even take a spin myself!
7 (3.2%) Meet people of the opposite attraction....
I understand that this might not be the best set of choices....and that my poll itself might be far from perfect....AND most important....these people are NOT in our area, or in our club....so they might have their own bias that would not exist around here.
Anyways....the poll is young, but I thought I would report on the current results thus far.

Well, it was a good meeting tonight, even though all of us were sans-scooter. (Mine still has not arrived at the dealership)
Anyways, it seems as though we might have some momentum around a ride scheduled for May 14th.
The details are in the works, but we were talking about a ride starting at say 10:00am from Naults Honda in Manchester....riding about Manchester then out to a BBQ perhaps at a members home, and then a post-BBQ ride.
All details will be released here. We will also be "spreading the word" in other ways.
So what do you think? Post your suggestions and ideas!

Quinten,
You have a typo on your other post. DCSC Rally is July 2. The 14th works for me if you want to push it back to May 21st That still is fine with me. We need to lock down a date so we can start getting the word out.

Oh...It appears that the Diner Scooter Club ride (Summer Scoot) is June 2nd....NOT May 24th as we had thought. (or was that another ride?)
Just an FYI....should we consider a later date for our event?

If my calendar is correct, then this coming Tuesday, April 19th, is the 3rd Tuesday of the month.....it's scooter club time!
So as I recall, the specifics are as follows:
CLUB MEETING & RIDE:
Tuesday, April 13th, 2005 @ 7:30pm
Meeting will be held at:
KCs Rib Shack
837 Second St.
Manchester, NH
I believe the plan was a small meet & greet followed by a ride around the area.
Does this sound right?

This is correct... Although I may be a little late. I have some NHSC pins for anyone who attends.

Good evening.....
I don't remember how we decided to communicate on the website....so I might be posting in the wrong place here.
I wanted to talk about possible rides....perhaps not specific places just yet....but perhaps possible ideas for rides.
So a few obvious things come to my mind:
1) a ride to one or some of the "notches" in the mountains
2) a ride up Mount Washington
3) A ride to and up along the seacoast into Maine
4) A ride down to the Diner City Club trip to the Summer Nationals Car Show
http://www.summernationals.com/index2.html
http://www.dsquared.org/dcsc.html
http://www.dsquared.org/scooters/summer_scoot_pc.jpg
5) A weekend ride or two out to one of the various fairs or festivals. eg:
15th Annual Vintage Racing May - http://www.vintagecelebration.com/
Milford Hot Air Balloon Festival - http://milfordnh.com/highhopes/festival.htm
Laconia Rod and Custom Show - http://laconiarodandcustom.com/
Half Moon Sober Festival - http://halfmoonsober.org/ (not sure what this is, but someone recommended it to me for some reason :-)
Wilton Arts and Film Festival - http://wiltonartsandfilmfestival.org/ (again....I know nothing!)
Laconia Motor Cycle Week - http://laconiamcweek.com/ (oh sure...)
Hillboro Balloon Festival - http://balloonfestival.org/
Great Waters Folk Festival - http://greatwaters.org/
Lowell Folk Festival - http://www.lowellfolkfestival.org/
One of the various Ag Fairs - http://www.nhfairs.com/fairdates.htm / http://www.nhfairs.com/NHDates.pdf
Pemi Valley Bluegrass - http://pemivalleybluegrass.com/
Pittsfield NH Balloon Festival - http://pittsfield-nh.com/
Jaffrey Festival of Fireworks - http://atlaspyro.com/kaboom.asp
White Mountain Boogie and Blue - http://whitemountainboogie.com/
Anyways.....I'm not suggesting that we can go to more than a couple.....but I thought I would throw out some ideas.
The other idea I have is that perhaps each of us could plan one ride. That way the responsibility could be shared.
The only thing we would want to try and do is give as much of a heads-up as to what we are planning so that we can spread the word to other members. (present and potential)
Just some late night rambling thoughts.....what do you think?

Quentin,
Good list.
Mt Washington auto Road doesn't allow scooters. We may be able to try to work something out with them, but according to their website scooters are not allowed. It would be cool though. Some more to add to your list.
There is a classic car club that has a car show every Sunday in Amherst. I will try to get details.
There are two Highland festivals. One during the summer and one in the fall.
Also in the fall there is the Keene Pumpkin festival.
