The Spring Fever Scooter Run was a blast. For those of you who took part, don't miss out on the next ride. Take a look at the photos, view the video or just read about the ride.

It was a great day for a ride. The sun was shinning, the birds where chirping and there was a smell of 2-stroke smoke in the air. What a better way to start a ride. Since the ride had been rainned out last weekend we re-scheduled it to coincide with Nault's annual pig roast and Poker Run. As I drove up to the Nault's Honda parking lot there was a sea of Goldwings and a line of scooters already there. Cops where directing traffic and parking was for "Bike's Only", luckily they considered my scooter a Bike.
Why is it that "Bikers" don't consider me to be a "real biker" because I ride a scooter, but yet I am more of a biker than they will ever be. Who else is crazy enough to ride all year long and log over 7,000 miles per year. Most of these so called bikers only take their bike out for weekend rides during fair weather. Anyways back to the ride...
We left the parking lot in a somewhat organized fashion and drove across the street to re-organize and meet up with our support van. Dave Brisson was nice enough to volunteer to drive behind us and make sure that no one broke down. Luckily, we all had a trouble free day.
We began our ride with a stroll through downtown Manchester before hitting the backroads which bring us into Goffstown. Along the way we were met with smiles and waves from people out enjoying the nice day doing yard work. We even got a smile (or was it a smirk) from a group of "bikers" assembling for their own ride.
After a nice warm-up ride into Goffstown we took a short break at Jonathan's Bookstore. The bookstore and cafe openned recently and is owned by a friend of mine and fellow musician, John Earlman of the "Jonathan Webster Band". At the cafe we had coffee and tea and I broke out the donated merchandise from Malaguti. Joel Martin of Malaguti, USA was nice enough to send some Malaguti t-shirts and scale models. Our ride was dominated by Malaguti scooters: (3) Malaguti's, (2) Derbi's, (1) Yamaha Zuma, a Vespa Rally 200, and a Lambretta TV175.
After snapping a few more photos it was off to the Hungry Moose for lunch and a few beers. During this leg of the ride we decided to let it rip and raced up the road toward Weare, NH. The fastest scooters where also the oldest. The Lambretta and Vespa really move. For the most part we rode together although the faster scooters seemed to lead the pack while the slower ones took up the rear a couple minutes behind.
Upon arriving at the Hungry moose we proceeded to fill up their parking lot and take over the joint. The Hungry Moose was a bit of a hole in the wall, but the staff was friendly and the food was good. And best of all, they carried Guinness.
We ate food, drank beer and talked about scooters and rallies. It was a good time.
We decided to take a ride out to Milford, which was home to a few of the riders. I'm glad we did. The ride out to Milford was full of s-curves and twisty back roads. At times it felt like more of a race than a ride as we took turns leading the pack and drafting. I seemed to always get them on the uphills (which had nothing to do with the fact that I weigh 120 lbs.) ;)
We stopped in at the home of one of the riders and took a short break before riding on to Merrimack and then back to Nault's Honda in Manchester just in time to grab the last bit of food from the pig roast. I hope this will be the beginning of a growing group of riders... I think there may be a rally coming in the future, who knows.

Hey, looks like you all had a great time. I enjoyed the photos and the recounting of the events. If I was a little closer, I would have joined you and the Derbi's would have matched the Malagutti's 3. Thanks again for the story on the event. Take care everyone.
