All of a sudden Ebay yanked all of this Louisiana based scooter vendorA.K.A "CypressAutoSales" "Sunflower" listings and suspended it's selling rights. The vendor had already changed their user name once ,probably to start fresh when their feedback was just lousy. This is supposedly a Christian run outfit upholding a high standard. What happened Winston?

hi, i live in southern california and these scooters are just coming in the area (though, i understand the corporate office for Vento is in san diego, about 100 miles from me). anyhow, i am interested in the phantom 150cc scooter, but unlike honda or yamaha, i am not sure how easy it will be to get parts or service if i need it. (one dealer is a "mom and pop" operation -showroom and office is 400 sq ft!-they are pretty cool, but i wonder how long they will stay in business, and the other dealer is a yamaha dealer that sells the vento grudgingly-ie they have a website but only care about the yamaha scooters) anyone in cal, or socal, have info on service and durability of these scooters? thanks.

> I live in NY & purchaced a triton 4 in 2004 The 50cc motor seems to have alot of pep, I get a top end of 45mph & I weigh 260lbs. there seems to be some carb issues if you let them sit, I do all of my own servicing, & I find it easy to by parts @ www.vento.com. if you are mechanicly enclined, they are not hard to work on @ all.

The 150cc Sunflower Scooters on Ebay seem like a great buy with the longting China motor and a bunch of up graded parts like fan cooled, carb, 10Hp, 11.5lbs tq.. 65-70mph for only $900. I was going to buy a Vento Zip GT5 but Im thinking of buying the Sunflower for the speed. Where I live the average traffic is a constant 45 to 55 mph. Does any one know anything about the Sunflower Scooters (are they any good)? Or do you think the 50cc Vento Zip can handle these speeds?

Winston, Connie, & Beverly,
I just wanted to drop you guys a note and thank you for all the help you all gave me when I purchased my scooter (I purchased your product ). I am from North Dakota so will only get to ride it about six month of the year but those six months are going to be very enjoyable thanks to you. When shopping for a scooter I talked to many different dealerships but most of them were very good salesmen but didn't seem to have a lot of knowledge of scooters like you do Winston and there prices were all a bit higher. I have 250 miles on the scooter and am very happy with its performance and the quality of the material that it's made of, the material of the body is much heavier than I expected I have seen
some that were really flimsy. My work pickup went into the shop last week for 2 days so I drove my scooter to work 34 miles round trip and it did very well there are two highways I can take and on the one with the least traffic I was running about 57 mph and when I hit the last 3 miles where traffic was heavier I pulled up to 65 mph and it did very well. There is also a very large ravine to go through (about a 1/4 mile downhill and a 1/4 mile uphill) and at the bottom I was going 65 mph and when I got to the top of the other side I had only dropped down to 55 mph which is very good seeing I weigh 235 lbs. I have always been an advocate of Lucas oil products so when you recommended to put some in with the crankcase oil I knew then that you had a very good knowledge of these scooter engines and also using marvel mystery oil in the gas for upper engine lube and cleaner was an excellent idea I really think I will get a lot of life out of this scooter that way. All in all I would and will recommend Sunflower scooters to anyone looking for a very fine looking and mechanically sound bike. You have my permission to use this letter anyway you would like to promote your products. Thanks again!!!!

we were sightseeng and I rode 80 miles the first day and 96 the second. My original scooter was a 50 cc Vento and averaged about 35 mph and did not have the pick up I needed. I am very happy with the 150cc, so happy that I bought an extra for when my granddaughters visit we do our shopping and browsing on the scooters.

The 150cc Sunflower seem to be too cheap to be true. I have been told to stay away from Chinese scooters but the price is attractive. Although they claim to have Yamaha motors, I couldn't find anything to substantiate that. I have heard Chinese scooters are impossible to get repaired presently. Anyone have any ideas - suggestions - Can you really rely on the Sunflower?

You would be wise to stay away from Cheap China built scooters, but the good China scooters are actually a much better investment then the other so called quality scooters. The best China and only China built scooters I would purchase are the Vento, SunFlower, and Ymoto. Anything else I thin k you will experience a problem getting parts. With the three mention scooters above parts are stocked in the United States. Something we cannot say about other brands.

I have a sunflower, and I'm pretty happy with it. I go around 50 mph and get around 65 mpg. Leaked oil past the cylinder at first, I switched to thicker oil and have not had any problems. I've driven over 2000 miles since February. I love this scooter!

I just bought a Phantom R4i 2005 model. I have driven it for 200 miles already. So far it has been working very well. I just want to know by personal experience, if anyone has found any problems after last message posted. I know that most messages are 6 months old at least, and so far the dealer has been great helping me with my questions, however I bought it in Central America, and it's a new scooter. Dealer really can't help me with any insight as to how the scotter operates after 1000 miles & +.
Thanks,
Jules

I purchased a 2006 phantom r4. The bike has over 1,000 miles on it. When the bike runs, it runs well. There is one MAJOR problem. Parts. I have given up trying to obtain parts from vento. I am resorting to purchasing an upgrade carb just to have an auto choke that works. I have been unable to find an stock auto choke for the phantom anywhere. I will probably never purchase another vento because of this reason. Anyone who buys one of these things has to realize sooner or later the auto choke is going to go! The part is easy to replace but difficult to find. Especially in seaon.

On the online manual there is listed under "electric II" a part called "Flasher" listed as # 26. But there is no picture of this part on the diagram. My turn signals and tail lights quit working, but they light up when I checked them with the remote, so I know they're getting power. Does anyone know what this part #96400JCCT000 is,and what it's for? I have a black cylinder shaped part aprox 2.25" long x 1.3/8" wide that has a 3 prong male permantly attached plug to it. It slips into a white circular holder behind the dash. The female plug that it plugs to has a red, a black, and an orange wire going to it. The female plug seems to have power to it but the only orange wires I have been able to trace go to the turn signals. I'm just guessing but I think this black cylinder part may be the problem. My real problem is I can't seem to find out what it is. It dosen't even have a part number on it. I sure would appreciate any help I could get. Thanks, Donna (donaejm@cox.net)

>I got my R4i in may and put some miles on it. I noticed that the transmission was not shifting as well on steep hills as I broke it in ( I could take one at 45 now I am lucky to do it in 30, shifts slower).
There has always been a problem of braking with the front brake. I get a lot of vibration off of it as if the roter is warped or the pads just need to be used to seat them properly.
if anyone has any info on the maintence schedule as well as a machanic book that will be great other wise I will comipile one myself

Hi there Sporty and others,
Sporty I got your email about winter storage and thanks! I just bought a Vento Zipr3 49.5 cc scooter and love it. Not only is it cool, fun and economical it's a quality piece of art. The dealer I got mine at (milwaukeescooters.com) was really helpful, knowledgeable and great. They delivered mine about a week ago and PJ, the gentleman that deliverded it showed me everything about it. You can goto ventoscooters.com and find out anything you want. They are not junk they are an affordable alternative to the Hondas and vespas. It has an alarm (that I use all the time), remote start(which I can kill the power up to a block away "if" someone steales it, it came with a really nice high quality Helmut and much more. they do have a little bigger scooter which is probablly better for those over 6.5 other than that I wish I could ride mine more than I do. The Wisconsin weather limits me(some what). I drive it any chance I get!
I don't recomend many products but the Vento Zipr3 is one to really consider. thanks again to Ken and PJ!! have fun scooting...

Hi Everyone,
I am very new to scooters just got my first one about a week ago. It is a 2003 zip r3. I have wanted a scooter for about 2 years now and my husband kept telling me the back of his Harley was my place and I didn't need a scooter. Well I am not working at the elementary school about 6 blocks away and decided that a scooter would be perfect for back and fourth to work. I got this scooter used, as is, no manual and I really have no knowledge of upkeep. I am wondering if there is a place that sells owner manuals. I have called every place in town with no luck. Maybe someone out there can answer a few questions for me and help me learn the ropes.
First, I think I have a short somewhere...it is wierd, during the day I have no headlight but at night time it seems to work fine. Now I know this thing does not know the difference from night and day and I must have a short. I also only have a bright light, no dim. I am sure that is just a bulb.
I put 2 cycle oil in it today in the hole under the seat. Should that be filled all the way to the top? There is no dipstick...well accept for me..lol. Any tips or websites that anyone could send me sure would be appreciated. I would like to be able to take care of this scooter on my own just to prove to the ol man that I can.
Thanks in advance

Tam, try www.vento.com or www.cobramotorsports.com (the usa distributor) i don't know a lot about these scooters, they are just arriving in our area. you should be able to contact these companies (via the site above) and buy a manual. most motorcycles (scooters too? ) have a circular window on the oil pan that you can look through to see if you have enough oil in it. I had a Kawasaki ninja and the oil amount and type information was on a sticker under the seat. Good luck. let me know how things go. alex_lowry@sbcglobal.net

I am seriously considering a Vento R4i. I've only seen pictures on the internet and read about it. However i do not know how comfortable it is. Can someone who is 6'5 ride it comfortably? Also, how does the alarm work? When would it go off? What does it sound like? I've never really seen or heard a scooter with an alarm before. For those of you that have a remote start, do you ever use it?? Why would you need remote start?? If you do use it, when do you use it?? I think it's cool and I would use it to show off.lol How about the cell phone indicator, does that really work??
thanks.

I have heard comments from people (including 1 dealer) that the r4i has in fact a 125cc engine instead of the 150cc engine it's being marketed as having?
I purchased an r4i about 2 months ago and have been pretty happy with it, but I was just curious if I had the wool pulled over my eyes.
I know it has a QJ motor and none of the bikes on the QJ web site have anything bigger than a 125, but that could be what they use for their bikes...
Anyone know for sure?

I' ve bought a Vento 150cc for $2800 (that's the price in Puerto Rico) in january 2004 on the first 100 miles a squiky noise from the front breakes, at around 125 miles the battery went dead, at 325 miles and $225.00 later, I had to fix the front and back breakes,at nearly 1000 miles blow-by from the motor. I had purchased this cheap scooter thinking that it was going to be reliable, but I just bought a lemon don't even ask me for the warranty the dealers in Puerto Rico DIDN'T HONOR IT so before you buy do your home work. I would recomend to look into the europeans scooters, it may cost a litter bit more but they seen to have a good reliable reputation.

Here in Puerto Rico the Vento owners start to install a car radio to the scooter, they install the speakers on the fron compartment door and the radio inside the seat compartment. Some of them install marine radios that have a wired remote control like the Pyle PLC15MR or the Clarion M335 with the M301RC Wired Remote Control. The only problem they have are that if you conect the radio direct to the battery and you forget to turn off may be drain the battery and when you try to start the scooter don't start or if start and you pull the break when the rear break light come on the scooter shout off. For that reason I recomend them to install a master switch for the radio. Other thing that they do to their scooters are pulish the clutch cover that came black to give to the scooter more aluminum pulish accent and pant the graved Vento word with the matching color of the scooter. Some of them tell me if I found on the internet another muffler assembly or header the come in nickel finish like some Vento Phantom R4i pictures that I saw on the web. If someone knows about that let me know here or to my e-mail address, rojeda@caribe.net

For those that install radio in their Vento Scooter, I recomend that install a second batterry in the left compartment next to the battery. During a search on internet I found a battery that fit perfect in your Vento as a main or a second battery. A Yuasa YTZ10S and have more capacity, 9Ah and 190 CCA. The factory Yuasa YTX7A-BS have 6A and only 90 CCA.

Just purchased a phantom r4i today after doing months of research and test driving different scooters. The phantom for a 150cc scooter and around 2000.00 seemed to give the biggest bang for the buck. The bike seemed to be high quality for a middle of the line scooter. I read reports, checked into companies...etc I actually got really anal about the scooter I wanted to buy. So many companies promising an excellent product...I rode Kymco, TnG, Derbi, Dazon, and a few others I can't remember. The Phantom stood out every time I rode one. The scooter is bigger and feels extremely comfortable, not like you were riding your kids bike feeling all unbalanced and out of control. Alot of the other brands when turning you felt like you wanted to put your foot down to keep from tipping. The phantom was excellent in this respect even at low speeds. For a scooter you could tell you had something under you. I haven't ridden much but for a first time ride on a scooter it made it almost natural. The body does seem a little thin but not much different in regards to comprable scooters. The ABS on the front is an amazing feature. Cruising around fifteen and give em a good sqeeze and they smoothly slow you to a stop. The same done on other scooters gave me a chattery, should of strapped the saddle on lets go over the handle bars reaction. To make a long story short the Phantom stood up to any other scooter I rode for the money. I'll update as much as I can as I put the miles on it. If my research holds good it should last me awhile. Hope the info helps

None of you really answered my questions But thats ok dont get mad but what is the exact link on cobramotors.com because Ive looked all over the place and I cant find anything about a vento scooter the only vento scooters Ive found on that site is when you click on parts at the top right of the page but it doesnt really say anything so.. people please help me thanks I really want to see one of these scooters ride. And Also Im thinkin to maybe get the Zip r3i Turbocam or Triton r4 because they are a lot less than the phantom r4i. What I truly think is that the prices for scooters are ridiculous I mean around $2000 for a scooter that only goes 65mph I could get a good car for $2000. BUT At the time I need one to get away out of the house. And I figured If I get one of these Ill probably go on a big road trip From maybe From where I live in Northern Indiana To Michigan and just kind of relax. I want to know What scooter could I buy That looks awsome, Has tons of optional performance parts, HAs tons of speed, low price, Go for long distances without any heating up or damges to it, And can take a beating. And the last thing Could someone be really helpful and tell me the top speeds of the 2004 model vento scooters. And could you maybe give me some names of other scooters that could kind of fit what Im lookin for. Thanks so much. I hope you answer my questions.

How do these folks stay in business?? Zero, and I do mean zero customer service. I have a cracked fender I need replaced to the tune of 27+ dollars. I've emailed Vento 3 times (even the customer service rep whose name I got on this site), I've called 2 local dealers, 2 others in the south, and I've called Vento twice in San Diego. Nothing-zip-zero.
And all I have right now is a cosmetic problem. God forbid I need something mechanical down the line. Perhaps I should hire someone to take a sledgehammer to the scooter and have my insurance company reimburse me for the loss. These are scooters packed with high end features at a discounted price. Now I know why the price is so much less than other nameplates.
Do yourself a favor; don't buy one of these. If you do, just plan on junking it at the first sign of trouble.
