Mark Groaning
Though Mark Groaning's technique and materials vary from project to project, the upbeat style of his work shines through. His art is definitely a reflection of his personality; a whirlwind of ideas, upbeat and energetic, quick to smile, with a good-hearted sense of humor.
Everything Mark experiences fuels his imagination: people he interacts with, that dog walking by, a cat in a window, an empty cup of coffee and a half-eaten muffin, cloud formations and randomly cast stones.
Groaning says, "I find composition for possible paintings or photographs in everything I see... the images appear in my mind as a finished painting and then I feel the urge to breathe life into that image by painting or sculpting it."
You might see his work in a gallery, you might see it in a boutique, on the side of a building, the evening news, a custom painted scooter or in countless private art collections worldwide. Just about everywhere you look in Rochester, New York you see his work. He spends much of his time in his lofty multiple level studio located within the vast art facility known as the Elizabeth Collection and Artisan Works. Mark's unusual and upbeat artwork can also be viewed in many private art collections in Rochester and throughout the country.
